Elephant Seal Beach Cambria

Cambria CA Moonstone Beach

My husband, Tristan, and I started out our California trip by driving from LA up to a quaint little town called Cambria. It was about a 4 hour drive, but we didn’t mind since we were driving along the beautiful coast! We stopped in Santa Barbara for our favorite veggie burritos from El Sitio. They are seriously the best, so if you are ever in the area, you must give them a try! We stayed at the Cambria Beach Lodge which was literally right along this boardwalk along the water! The sound of the ocean waves gently lulled us to sleep each night. So peaceful! Every morning we would take a walk along the boardwalk with a cup of hot tea in hand. This hotel was super cute with great boho beach vibes in their decor. Lots of white and turquoise which are my favorite colors 🙂 Cambria is quite small but absolutely gorgeous! With all the rain Cali had been getting, the rolling hills were bright green and lush. We visited their little nursery loaded with many exotic flowers and plants. For a delicious and healthy dining experience, I recommend Centrally Grown, offering higher end farm to table dishes. You also can’t miss the elephant seal beach just a few miles north of town. There were hundreds of seals and pups out sunning themselves and making the strangest sounds!

Carlsbad & Encinitas~

We then ventured back down the coast to Carlsbad and Encinitas- adorable little beach towns just a half hour north of San Diego. Our hotel overlooked the water and we enjoyed amazing sunsets while soaking in the hot tub! Even though it wasn’t super warm outside, we still spent some time basking in the sun and feeling the sand between our toes! Tristan and I are both originally from the west coast, so the salty sea air and relaxed beach vibes are in our blood! These towns spill right over into each other along the 101 HWY with cute coffee shops, healthy restaurants, and surf shops of course. We had the most amazing (Organic!) fish tacos at Haggo’s Organic Taco. I would go back there in a heartbeat! For an excellent and unusual latte, you must pop into Lofty Coffee– I tried their cardamom latte and Tristan enjoyed their mayan mocha. Both were to die for! We spent time relaxing at Carlsbad State Beach and La Jolla Shores Beach which were both stunning. Lots of palm trees, surfers to watch, and frisbee to throw! If you ever get the chance to visit this part of California, I hope you get to check out these places and have a fun adventure as we did!
