Green Smoothie Recipe

Hi Friends! I have been loving my morning green smoothies and wanted to share one of my favorite recipes with you! It’s such a nice way to start your day because they are light, refreshing, cleansing, detoxifying, and super nutritive. I have personally been focusing on healing and nourishing my digestion, which is why this recipe includes lots of digestive tonic plants. The ginger, turmeric, and aloe are excellent for the digestive tract because they soothe inflammation and indigestion. I suggest only using the gel of the aloe and not the whole leaf, because the leaf has laxative affects. The burdock root is a blood and liver cleanser, the celery is good for boosting hydrochloric acid production which helps break down food in your stomach. Greens contain fiber and chlorophyll which help clean the digestive tract and lemon juice is a great whole body cleanser. The mint, berries, and lime juice add a tasty flavor!

Green Smoothie Detox Recipe:

  • 1 Cup Fresh or Frozen Spinach
  • 2 Stalks Celery
  • 1/4 Cucumber
  • Handful of Mint
  • 1″ Fresh Ginger Root
  • 1″ Fresh Turmeric Root
  • 1″ Fresh Burdock Root
  • 2″ Fresh Aloe Gel Fillet- cut out gel from leaf
  • 1 TBSP Cold-Pressed Lemon Juice or 1/2 a Fresh Lemon
  • 1 TBSP Cold-Pressed Lime Juice or 1/2 a Fresh Lime
  • 1 Cup Fresh or Frozen Strawberries (or any berries/fruit you have on hand)
  • I suggest using all organic ingredients whenever possible

Add all ingredients to a high powered blender such as a VitaMix or NutriBullet, add 1/2 cup water, blend, and enjoy!
